Powerful action at every stage of wound healing

MaxioCel’s unique Bioactive Microfiber Gelling  Technology (BMG)® works intelligently at every stage of the wound healing process to deliver transformative results – in one powerful dressing.

100% Chitosan Gelling Microfiber Dressing: Suitable for use on all chronic and acute wounds

What is Chitosan?

Chitosan is a natural material derived from chitin, which makes up the endoskeleton or
exoskeleton of shellfish. It possesses unique properties, such as being cationic (positively
charged) and is biocompatible, which enables its use in various applications such as food
packaging, cosmetics, and wound care.

What is BMG Technology?

Bioactive Microfiber Gelling (BMG) is a unique gelling fiber technology that uses chitosan to
maintain a strong gel structure during exudate absorption and to support wound healing.

Can MaxioCel cause allergies?

There have been no reported allergic reactions associated with chitosan-based dressings,
including MaxioCel. However, as a sensible precaution, MaxioCel is not recommended in
patients with known allergies to chitosan.

Why is MaxioCel ideal for wound care?

MaxioCel uses BMG technology to support wound healing and is made from 100% chitosan,
which has many benefits for wound care. These benefits include managing wound exudate,
locking in exudate, protecting wound edges, controlling bacteria, maintaining a clean wound
bed, and minimizing discomfort from the wound.

Is a secondary dressing required after applying MaxioCel?

Yes, choose a secondary dressing suitable for the wound conditions, i.e., exudate levels and
wound location. If in doubt, speak to a healthcare provider such as a nurse, doctor, or
podiatrist.

What is MaxioCel made of?

MaxioCel is made from 100% chitosan.

Does MaxioCel contain any preservatives?

No, MaxioCel is made of 100% chitosan, which is a naturally occurring biopolymer and contains
no preservatives.

Will MaxioCel cause any pain?

pain.

The proven science behind MaxioCel

Chitosan is derived from chitin – the most abundantly available natural polymer after cellulose. Chitosan has several healing properties that aid wound healing:

  • haemostasis
  • anti-microbial
  • anti-inflammatory
  • non-cytotoxic

MaxioCel is made from 100% grade A chitosan, extracted from shellfish, the highest quality available.

Technology that transforms your approach to wound healing

Utilising the proven properties of chitosan, and enhanced by Bioactive Microfibre Gelling (BMG) technology, MaxioCel activates wound healing and improves patient comfort. It’s a powerfully simple solution to your wound healing challenges – in one simple solution.

  • A versatile dressing for use on moist wounds
  • Retains exudate and protects peri-wound skin
  • One piece removal
  • Antimicrobial and antibiofilm action
  • Activates healing
  • Improves patient comfort.

Antimicrobial + anti-biofilm action

MaxioCel’s positively charged chitosan fibres attract, disrupt, and kill bacteria within the dressing – reducing bacterial load which is a barrier to healing.

Biofilms can adhere to the gel matrix, when the dressing is changed, the biofilm is removed.

Activates healing

MaxioCel’s positively charged fibres attract blood cells and other beneficial cells to activate haemostasis.

It also aids autolytic debridement, helping to remove slough and necrotic tissue and accelerating granulation and re-epithelialisation.

In a 4-week evaluation, MaxioCel significantly increased healing rate, decreased slough and necrosis, and increased granulation and epithelialisation.

Improves patient comfort

MaxioCel’s Bioactive Microfibre Gelling Technology transforms into a soothing gel matrix that works to reduce inflammation, protect peri-wound skin, and activate healing– improving patient comfort and experience.

It’s a difference that you can see and that your patients will feel.

In a 4-week evaluation, patients using MaxioCel reported a significant reduction in pain perception.

Streamlines dressing selection

MaxioCel can be used first line on a wide variety of wound types – streamlining dressing selection and usage. Simple to use, non-cytotoxic and comfortable for your patient.
